I saw him as I pulled into the driveway. He was looking out the window, almost as if he were waiting for me. As I opened the door, I could tell by his body language he was excited to see me. He showered me with sweet, lucisious kisses as I stepped into my house. He almost knocked me over with his greeting. I sat down, and he sat next to me. He was so close I could feel his warm breath. He was breathing on my neck and shoulders. I was shocked by his eagerness. We had our dinner. I shared from my plate. I knew he loved it when I did that. We stayed close all evening long. We even shared the comfy chair. It was cozy feeling him next to me. We didn't really have to say a whole lot. I know how he feels about me, and he knows how much I love him.
As the evening started to draw to a close, bedtime was nearing. I wanted to shower. He patiently waited for me right outside the bathroom door. He watched as I dried off. I put lotion all over my body. His eyes never left me. He waited. I knew what he wanted. I looked at him and said, ok. I laid down in my bed, and he stood just looking, waiting, hoping he would get an invitation. I told him to come on. He crawled in bed next to me. He rested his head on my stomach and snuggled up close. It brought such calm, such peace ,such a feeling of love and safety. I loved having him next to me. I knew I loved him from top of his head all the way down to the tip of his tail. My Lucky, always by my side, my beautiful English Pointer. Who else would it have been?
